
🔒 URGENT COMPLIANCE NOTICE – Tobacco Legislation Changes
As of 1 April 2024, the Public Health (Tobacco and Other Products) Act 2023 and its accompanying Regulations 2024 have replaced all previous tobacco-related legislation. The Department of Health has issued guidance for manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers.
🚨 Key Requirements (Effective Immediately)
By 30 June 2024, stores must:
- ✅ Remove all non-compliant products, including:
- Cigarette packs of 20s without individual stick warnings
- All 25s, 30s, 40s, 50s cigarette packs
- All 15g, 20g, 25g, 50g RYO (roll-your-own) tobacco products not meeting new requirements
- ✅ Update POS selection icons:
- Must be black with white font
- No colour icons or branding permitted
✅ Next Steps for VDMS Customers – Tobacco Law Changes
To meet the new tobacco legislation requirements, we recommend the following:
- Review all current tobacco stock and remove any products that don’t meet the new standards.
- Book a planogram review with VDMS to reflect updated product ranges and support stock changes.
- Schedule software updates for your VDMS-managed machines to apply revised planograms and POS icon changes.
- Brief store staff on product removals and the updated POS display format.
